Being a volunteer with the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul (SSVP) means offering your heart and your time to neighbours who are going through a difficult moment in a concrete and personal way that helps them receive food, material support, comfort, and a renewed sense of hope. The Society depends on the time and passion of its members, who have contact with people in need while also meeting regularly to deepen their faith and organize their mission.
Volunteering with SSVP helps you grow as a person as well as becoming part of a community that shares your values. You can help with these activities:
- purchase and deliver groceries on a monthly basis;
- buy and distribute grocery, gas, and restaurant cards to our partners;
- collect alms on the last weekend of the month at the masses at Our Lady of the Rockies;
- provide assistance to people in need in the community on an emergency basis;
- provide administrative support like bookkeeping, joining our executive as Treasurer and Secretary; and
- manage our website, our email communications and develop our social media.
Vincentians say they receive more than they give, because in helping those who suffer they encounter Christ and experience a joy and hope that change the way they see the world. If you would like to learn more or join our volunteer group, please share your name, email, and phone number, and briefly tell us how you would like to help.
